Alienware m18 with a GeForce RTX 4080 to hit shelves on February 9 for US$2599 – Notebookcheck.net

Like many other OEMs, Dell resurrected its 18-inch gaming laptop lineup at CES 2023. The Alienware m18 was announced as a no-compromises machine with top-spec hardware from Intel, Nvidia, and even AMD. Those eager to get their hands on one can do so on February 9.

However, only one model featuring a GeForce RTX 4080 graphics card will be available initially for US$2,599. Lower-specced variants will start at US$1,899/CA$2,699 and will be available shortly after. Sadly, Team Red enthusiasts will have to wait until Q2, 2023, to try out AMD’s new Dragon Range CPUs and RDNA 3 graphics cards. Prices for the AMD models will be revealed later.

Dell’s CES 2023 reveal left out some crucial details about the Alienware m18, such as its GPU and CPU model names, particularly for the AMD variants. However, they have now been revealed, including the Ryzen 9 7945HX (16c/32t), Ryzen 9 7845HX (12c/24t), and Ryzen 7 7745HX (8c/16t). In addition, one can pair it with a Radeon RX 7600M XT (120W TGP) to make an all-AMD machine.

Those who prefer Nvidia hardware can pick between pretty much any Ada Lovelace mobile SKU announced, including the GeForce RTX 4090 (16 GB VRAM, 175 W TGP), RTX 4080 (12 GB VRAM, 175 W TGP), RTX 4070 (8 GB VRAM, 140 W TGP), RTX 4060 (8 GB VRAM, 140 W TGP) and GeForce RTX 4050 (6 GB VRAM, 140 W TGP).

Other Alienware m18 specs include an 18-inch IPS LCD panel. Dell lets users pick between QHD+ 165 Hz and FHD+ 480 Hz configurations. It is possible to trick out the laptop with up to 64 GB of DDR5 4,800 MT/s memory and 9 TB of solid-state storage, although Dell hasn’t specified if either component will be user replaceable.
